Snows from 2010-2011

We had a nice Saturday morning snow on November 6, 2010:

On December 4th, 2010, we had another Saturday morning snow to get in the holiday shopping mood (and more snow expected for Saturday night:

After another dusting of snow on December 5th, 2010, the very next week we had both more snow and then, later, on December 16th, an ice storm with more than ½” of ice!

December 13th, 2010: 2 inches:

Returning from a business trip on December 16th, 2010, I found my car to be covered with a half inch of solid ice.  It took 45 minutes to clear enough to drive away.  Thousands lost power in Kingsport, but we didn’t.

The trees were pretty with the ice, as long as you were indoors!

A WHITE CHRISTMAS!!!  On Christmas morning, we awoke to snowfall and accumulation.  It continued for two days, eventually reaching four inches by Monday morning, December 27th, 2010.  Tuesday morning set a record low of 8 degrees.

The snows just kept on coming for us in January, thank goodness!   On January 5th, 2011, we had a gorgeous wet snow that adhered to the trees:

The picture below was on January 8th, after a couple of days of light snow.

Persistent snow cover made our fair city very pretty.  Below is a picture from Eastman’s Corporate Headquarters looking northwest toward a snowy Bays Mountain on January 12th, 2011:

A meeting at the “Eastman Lodge” on January 13th, 2011 found a pleasurable snowy site (below):

The morning of January 24th, 2011, found a surprise light snow that was enough to make for slippery going outside my office:

February was un-snowy and warmer, but we did get a nice one on February 10th, 2011 (below).  The Sullivan County Schools were getting bolder as this only resulted in a 2 hour delay rather than a cancellation.
